SPAIN –   Household spending on furniture and home décor in Spain rose by 14% in 2025 compared with the previous year, reaching an average of EUR 741 per household, according to the Dynamics of Consumption in Spain 2025 report published by the Cetelem Observatory.

The data confirms a growing trend among Spanish consumers: investing more in improving, upgrading and personalising their living spaces.

The report highlights that this rise reflects a shift in lifestyle priorities, with consumers increasingly focusing on comfort, design and functionality at home. Categories such as décor items and accessories saw particularly strong growth, driven largely by younger buyers aged 18 to 24, who seek to create more customised and modern interiors. Auxiliary furniture, sofas, and bedroom and bathroom furnishings also recorded positive growth.

Physical retail remains the preferred channel for purchasing furniture, with average in-store spending rising 15% to EUR 749 per household. However, online purchases continue to expand rapidly: average spending in digital channels increased by 20%, reaching EUR 384. This growth underscores the increasing confidence in e-commerce and the influence of younger, more digitally oriented consumers.

The report also notes significant increases in other home-related expenditures. Spending on home renovations grew by 13%, kitchens by 38%, and household appliances by 19%, illustrating a broader dynamism across the home-improvement market.

Looking ahead, consumer sentiment remains strong. Around 49% of Spaniards plan to purchase furniture or décor items within the next 12 months, three percentage points higher than in 2024. Among them, consumers aged 25 to 34 stand out, with 58% expressing purchase intentions—well above the national average—confirming the segment’s key role in driving the sector.

According to the study, Spain’s furniture and décor market is experiencing one of its strongest periods in recent years, supported by a combination of growing consumer interest in home enhancement, increased spending capacity, and the rising importance of design and comfort in everyday life.
