MEXICO –    Proteak, the main forestry company in Mexico, reported a significant decline in revenues for both the third quarter and the first nine months of 2025, reflecting weaker MDF and teak sales. However, the company managed to reduce its net losses compared to the same period last year.

During the third quarter of 2025, total income fell 46.5% year-on-year to MXP 158.2 million, driven mainly by a 46.6% drop in MDF sales to MXP 153.6 million. Teak sales also decreased 69.4% to MXP 1.1 million. Despite the steep revenue decline, Proteak reduced its quarterly net loss by 74.8% to MXP -74.2 million, improving its net margin to -46.9% from -99.7% in 3Q 2024.

For the first nine months of 2025, total income reached MXP 508.3 million, down 46.3% from a year earlier, as MDF sales declined 45.7% and teak sales fell 66.4%. The company’s net loss narrowed to MXP -283.4 million, compared with MXP -625.1 million in the same period of 2024. The net margin improved by 10.3 percentage points, reaching -55.8%.

Proteak’s results highlight the ongoing challenges in the MDF market, yet its reduced losses suggest progress in cost control and operational efficiency despite persistent demand headwinds.
