UNITED KINGDOM – Kronospan UK has received the Circular and Recycling Product Award at the National Sustainability Awards 2025, held at the London Marriott Hotel. The event recognizes excellence and innovation in sustainable practices across multiple industries in the United Kingdom.
Based in Chirk, North Wales, Kronospan UK manufactures particleboard, MDF, melamine-faced panels, laminate flooring, and worktops, and is a recognized leader in the wood-based panel industry. The company was awarded for its pioneering circular manufacturing approach, which maximizes resource efficiency and minimizes environmental impact.
Daniel Grantham, Sustainability Manager at Kronospan UK, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award. It reflects the continuous investment we make in sustainable technologies and processes. From reusing production waste to reducing our carbon footprint, circularity is at the heart of everything we do.”
Founded in Austria in 1897, Kronospan has operated in the UK since the 1970s. Its brands — Kronodesign®, Kronobuild®, Krono Original®, and Finesse Worktops — are designed for architecture, furniture, and interior design applications, with a growing emphasis on sustainability and material reuse.
The company’s ongoing sustainability strategy includes closed-loop manufacturing systems, increased use of recycled wood, and energy-efficient production. Part of its energy needs are met through biomass recovery, using wood waste generated on-site.
The recognition at the fifth edition of the National Sustainability Awards underscores Kronospan’s leadership in driving the UK’s circular economy and its continued commitment to developing sustainable, high-quality products for the global market.
