COLOMBIA – Based on customs data on Colombia’s wooden furniture imports for January-June (6M-2025), the sector experienced a significant overall growth of 46.5% from 2024 to 2025, with total imports rising from USD 13,567,699 to USD 19,874,440.
Sodimac Colombia led the import growth among individual companies, showing a remarkable 192.5% increase in imports, rising from USD 2,297,412 in 2024 to USD 6,720,368 in 2025.
Madesa Muebles Colombia also saw a substantial surge of 266.4%, albeit from a smaller base, reaching USD 610,690 in 2025. While most major importers experienced growth, other importers saw a slight decrease of 10.4%, suggesting a consolidation of market share among larger, named importers.
China remained the dominant source country, with imports increasing by 63.8% to USD 10,748,308 in 2025. Brazil showed the highest percentage growth among major suppliers, with imports nearly doubling by 91.3%, reaching USD 6,352,840.
Notably, Italy experienced a slight decline in imports by 1.0%. Other countries of origin saw a significant decrease of 75.9%, indicating a strong shift towards sourcing from a concentrated group of key countries, primarily China and Brazil.
The Colombian wooden furniture import market experienced robust expansion in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. This growth was driven by substantial increases in imports by key players like Sodimac Colombia and heavily supported by imports from China and Brazil, which solidified their positions as primary supplier countries to the Colombian market.
