MEXICO –  Between January and April 2025, Mexico imported USD 34.77 million in particleboard/MDP, registering a 10.5% year-on-year increase, according to customs data. This growth reflects the robust demand in key industries such as construction, interior design, and furniture manufacturing.

Chile remained Mexico’s top supplier country, with exports reaching USD 14.7 million, a 21.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This strong performance confirms Chile’s leadership in the region, supported by competitive pricing and steady supply from major producers like Arauco and Kronospan.

Spain showed the sharpest growth among the main exporter countries, with shipments rising by 37.2% to over USD 4.1 million, indicating a growing preference for European materials, often associated with high design value and technical standards.

Conversely, imports from the United States declined 9.6%, dropping to USD 11.96 million. While still the second-largest supplier, this decrease may reflect pricing shifts or logistical adjustments. Ecuadorian exports also fell significantly, down 17.3%, totaling USD 1.39 million.

Imports from other countries surged by 85%, reaching USD 2.53 million, suggesting Mexico is increasingly diversifying its supply base.
