PERU – Peru’s wooden furniture imports fell by 12% year-on-year during the first half of 2025 (6M-2025), totaling USD 21.7 million according to customs data.
The drop reflects a broad contraction in demand, although some retailers increased their imports.
Tiendas de Mejoramiento del Hogar (Sodimac-Maestro) led all importers with purchases of USD 5.5 million, up 9.5% from the previous year. Saga Falabella saw the strongest growth among major chains, increasing its imports by 40% to USD 2.1 million. Centro Cerámico Las Flores nearly doubled its purchases (+91.9%).
However, other key players reported significant declines. Homecenters Peruanos reduced their imports by 42%, and Hipermercados Tottus fell by 12.2%. Imports from other countries, dropped 17.5%.
From the export side, Brazil remained the top supplier country of wooden furniture to Peru, although shipments declined 16.4% to USD 13 million. China, in contrast, boosted exports by 36.6%, reaching USD 4.8 million, followed by Colombia with a 32.5% increase. The USA also showed notable growth (+45.6%), while exports from Spain fell sharply by 67.4%.
