GERMANY –  At the Ligna 2025 trade fair, Homag GmbH identified a serious infringement of its European patent EP 2243619 B2 by the Chinese company IMAI (Guangdong Super Machinery Technology Co. Ltd.).

The machine in question, the Pro Edge NC680-LP-AR, incorporates two joining devices whose combined use violates Homag’s protected technology. The system integrates two automated edge-banding processes: one using pre-coated material activated by a laser, and the other using uncoated material with adhesive applied via a glue roller. This dual-process combination is a key element of Homag’s patented solution.

In response, Homag filed for a preliminary injunction with the Regional Court of Braunschweig, which was officially served to IMAI during the fair. A hearing was held on June 12, 2025, where the court confirmed the violation and issued an injunction prohibiting IMAI from marketing, selling, importing, or using the machine in Germany.

Dr. Sergej Schwarz, Executive Board member of Homag Group, praised the swift legal action: “Our technology reflects years of innovation and investment. We are committed to defending our intellectual property and will continue to take strong action against future infringements.”
