BRAZIL – Brazilian exports of particleboard / MDP fell by 15% in value from January to May 2025 (5M-2025), reaching USD 44.7 million compared to USD 52.6 million during the same period in 2024.
China emerged as the top destination, increasing its imports by 18% year-over-year to USD 17.3 million. In contrast, shipments to key Latin American markets declined significantly: Colombia imported USD 9.9 million (-21.7%), Peru USD 6.9 million (-25.3%), and Bolivia USD 4 million (-31.2%). Paraguay was the exception, with a 15.1% rise. Exports categorized as “Others” dropped by 45.8%.
At the state level, Santa Catarina led all exporters with USD 19.5 million, down 5.8% from 2024. Rio Grande do Sul experienced the sharpest decline (-38.2%), falling to USD 11.2 million. Meanwhile, São Paulo saw growth of 10.8%, exporting nearly USD 11 million. Paraná and Minas Gerais both posted double-digit decreases.
