GERMANY – From May 26 to 30, Ligna 2025 gathered the global woodworking and processing industry in Hanover, featuring 1,433 exhibitors from 49 countries over 114,078 sqm.
The show welcomed 78,000 attendees, matching the turnout of 2023, and delivered momentum and renewed optimism for the sector.
Dr. Jochen Köckler, CEO of Deutsche Messe AG, stated: “Ligna clearly proved its unique status as the world’s leading trade fair. In-person machine demos continue to be irreplaceable despite digital trends.”
Trade professionals made up 93% of visitors, with 60% holding management roles and 44% in top-level positions. Notably, 56% came from abroad, with strong delegations from Poland, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, France, and Belgium.
Exhibitors showcased innovations across the value chain, highlighting solutions in AI, smart manufacturing, sustainability, and circular material use. Two new formats—Ligna.Circular and Ligna.TruckStop—emphasized eco-conscious solutions and craftsman-level engagement.
Markus Hüllmann, Chairman of VDMA Woodworking Machinery, noted: “Despite challenges, Ligna provided new energy and even surprising on-site orders. It’s a positive sign for recovery.”
The next LIGNA will be held from May 10–14, 2027, again in Hanover. Following industry consultation, it will move to a five-day weekday format, avoiding conflicts with Ascension Day.
