SPAIN –  According to data from ESTACOM, Spanish furniture exports recorded solid growth of 6.7% in the first quarter of 2025, reaching EUR 786 million. This represents a significant rebound compared to the same period in 2024, when exports had declined by 2.7%.

The two leading furniture-exporting regions, Catalonia and the Valencian Community, jointly accounted for 53.4% of total exports from January to March 2025.

France continues to lead as the top destination, absorbing 27.3% of Spanish furniture exports, with a 3.1% growth year-over-year, equivalent to more than €214.6 million.

The United States ranked fourth globally, with a 7.6% increase in imports of Spanish furniture, reaching EUR 47.2 million. Industry experts highlight the U.S. as a strategic market that should be further developed through targeted promotional actions due to its high potential for business.

Other European markets showing notable growth include:

  • Portugal (+5.7%)
  • Germany (+9.4%)
  • Italy (+9.5%)
  • Netherlands (+12%)

The United Kingdom maintained its upward trend with a 7.9% increase compared to 1Q-2024. It’s worth noting that not all furniture exported to the UK stays there, as many items are specified for projects in other regions such as the Middle East.

Emerging markets also showed strong performance. Morocco and Mexico each recorded +24.8% growth, driven by their growing project volumes requiring Spanish furnishings.

Algeria stands out with a dramatic 392% increase, placing it ninth among global export destinations. The surge follows the recent lifting of trade restrictions with Spain and Algeria’s free trade agreement with the EU, opening new doors for Spanish companies interested in expanding into North Africa.
