Panama Sees 40.1% Increase in Particleboard Imports in 2024

PANAMA – Panama’s particleboard / MDP imports saw a significant rise in 2024, with total imports reaching USD 14.99 million, up 40.1% from USD 10.70 million in 2023.

Ecuador remained the largest supplier country, accounting for USD 5.14 million in 2024, a 16.2% increase from the previous year. Spain also saw a major jump, with imports rising by 96.5% to USD 3.72 million, while Brazil’s share grew by 84.1% to USD 2.68 million.

Among the top importers in Panama, Formica Distribution Center led with USD 4.46 million, reflecting a 15.6% increase. Komex Internacional also saw a notable growth of 87.2%, importing USD 4.41 million. Other importers, including Empresas Melo and Imeca Panamá, reported steady increases as well.

Novopan del Ecuador continued to be the leading supplier of particleboard to Panama, with imports growing by 15.9% to USD 4.25 million. Dexco, another major supplier, saw a dramatic rise of 127.8%, reaching USD 2.11 million. Other suppliers, such as Financiera Maderera and Maderas Arauco, experienced more moderate growth, while imports from Tableros Hispanos increased by 66.4%.
