SPAIN – Cantisa, a leader in edgebanding and decorative trims, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. This milestone reflects decades of hard work, innovation, and continuous growth.

Founded in 1985, Cantisa began as an extension of the Rico family’s longstanding wood processing business, which dates back to 1931. Initially focused on wood veneers, Cantisa quickly expanded its operations to include edge banding and moulding coverage. By 1993, the company had already anticipated market trends and became one of the first in Spain to introduce melamine and PVC edge banding—a product that would soon revolutionize the sector.

Over the years, Cantisa continued to innovate, introducing textured PVC and launching custom-printed edge banding in 2010. This was a game-changer, with clients appreciating the tailored designs. By 2014, the company expanded internationally, opening export markets in Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Asia, reaching more than 50 countries today.

Cantisa’s commitment to quality led to impressive growth, including surpassing one million meters of edge banding sold daily in 2017. The company’s dedication to design also shone through with the launch of its “Cantos que Decoran” (Decorative Edges) collection in 2019, which highlighted edge banding as a key design element. This collection earned recognition, including the prestigious Interzum Award for the “Canto Reja.”

In 2023, Cantisa took another leap forward, becoming the first edge banding manufacturer in Spain to adopt digital printing. This breakthrough allows for precise reproduction of new digital melamine trends, ensuring Cantisa remains at the forefront of innovation.
