GERMANY – Egger has won the German Sustainability Award in the Resources category for its innovative EcoBox construction solution.
The award was presented during Sustainability Day on November 29 in Düsseldorf.
The EcoBox optimizes timber frame construction by using a mix of OSB (Oriented Strand Board), sawn timber, and softwood fiber insulation. This combination allows for the sustainable use of lower-quality wood, offering high dimensional stability and consistent quality. It is particularly beneficial for industrial-scale timber construction.
Compared to traditional solid wood, the EcoBox reduces wood consumption by up to 38% and lowers the weight of the final structure. Made with materials sourced from Egger’s own factories, it ensures availability and meets customer demand. The product also helps reduce thermal bridges, improves handling, and simplifies transport.
Certified with European Technical Approval (ETA), the EcoBox is suitable for prefabricated housing, modular, and timber frame construction.
Egger’s commitment to sustainable solutions is evident in the EcoBox, which demonstrates how innovative material combinations can lead to more resource-efficient building practices.
