CHILE – In the first eight months of 2024, Chile’s particleboard exports totaled USD 69.1 million, reflecting a decrease of 5.1% compared to USD 72.8 million in the same period of 2023.
Chile’s exports in the period 2024 reveal contrasting trends across different markets. Notably, Colombia has seen a remarkable growth of 47.3%, elevating its import value to USD 15.4 million.
Conversely, some key markets have faced substantial declines. Peru experienced the sharpest drop, with exports falling by 34.5%, decreasing to USD 10.3 million. Additionally, Costa Rica and Mexico reported declines of 28.3% and 12.3%, respectively.
Among exporters, Masisa stood out with a growth of 9.9%, showcasing resilience in a challenging market. However, Arauco, the largest exporter, saw a decline of 9.6%.
Exports to other countries which includes various smaller markets, reported a significant increase of 39.4%, rising from USD 5.1 million to USD 7.1 million. This suggests that Chile is successfully diversifying its export destinations beyond its traditional partners.
