GERMANY – imm cologne 2025 programed for January has been canceled.

Koelnmesse, in collaboration with the Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM) and the Furniture and Kitchens Trade Association (BVDM), made this decision due to significant economic challenges facing the German furniture industry.

imm Cologne is recognized as a leading trade show in the furniture and interior design industries.

This pause provides a valuable opportunity to develop a more viable format that aligns with the sector’s current needs.

German furniture manufacturers are grappling with low domestic demand, prompting them to adjust their expenses and strategies. According to the VDM, there was a 9.7% drop in turnover in 2023, reflecting the market’s difficulties.

“It’s a necessary step in this context,” says VDM president Leo Lübke. The industry is closely collaborating with Koelnmesse to create new concepts that better align with current market trends.

BVDM president Markus Meyer supports the decision: “We understand that we will lose a key platform for innovation and exchange of ideas.” Gerald Böse from Koelnmesse adds that this pause is a logical measure and that promising concepts for the future are being developed.

Koelnmesse is one of the  largest trade fair organizers in Germany and with 284,000 m2 exhibition floor area the third largest by area.
