COLOMBIA – In the first half of 2024, Latin America’s wooden furniture exports experienced a decline of 5.5% compared to the same period in 2023, totaling USD 759.3 million.

This downturn reflects varied performances across the region, with some countries seeing significant growth while others faced reductions.

Mexico, traditionally the region’s largest exporter, experienced a strong drop of 12% to USD 412.9 million. Conversely, Brazil’s exports remained relatively stable, showing a slight increase of 0.8% to USD 274.5 million. Colombia also experienced positive growth, up 5.8% to USD 30.6 million.

Notable increases were observed in Guatemala and Chile. Guatemala’s exports surged by 156.2%, reaching USD 14.8 million, while Chile saw its figures more than double, up 118.7% to USD 1.9 million. Meanwhile, Peru’s exports rose by 19.3% to USD 1.4 million.

On the other hand, countries such as Ecuador and Honduras faced declines, with Ecuador’s exports falling by 8.3% to USD 9.0 million and Honduras decreasing by 14.6% to USD 8.4 million. Argentina also experienced a reduction, down 11.8% to USD 2.6 million.
