USA – According to Lesprom Analytics, China’s wood furniture exports saw a significant 24% increase in the first seven months of 2024, reaching 256 million pieces.

This boost led to a 9% rise in export value, totaling USD 13.4 billion. Despite this growth, the average price per piece dropped by 12% to USD 52.

The United States continues to be the largest market for Chinese wood furniture, making up 30% of total exports. Shipments to the U.S. grew by 20% to 77 million pieces, with a 5% increase in export value to USD 3.9 billion, despite a 13% decline in average price. Germany and the Netherlands also saw substantial increases, with export volumes rising by 35% and 74%, respectively. Other markets, including the UK, Japan, France, Canada, and Australia, experienced growth in both volume and value, although Japan saw a drop in average price.

Seating furniture remains the largest export category, accounting for 26% of the total export value. While China’s strategy to stimulate demand through lower prices has driven export growth, it also comes with risks. Increasing international trade tensions and tariffs, such as those imposed by the European Union and the U.S., pose challenges. Analysts suggest that focusing on boosting domestic consumption could provide a more balanced economic strategy.
