CHILE – Masisa, one of the leading wooden panel manufacturers in South America, reported sales revenue for the first half of 2024 (6M-2024) was USD 140.4 million, down 12.6% from the same period last year (USD 160.7 million).
This decline was due to lower average selling prices across most markets, driven by macroeconomic conditions, though partially offset by a 10.7% increase in total sales volume, thanks to gradual demand recovery in recent months.
Sales volume in the wooden panels and derivatives segment grew 7.2% year-over-year by June 2024, led by a 24.8% increase in mouldings sales, mainly to North America. EBITDA for 2Q- 2024 was USD 5.0 million, showing improvement from the previous three quarters due to higher sales volumes and a strategy to boost value-added products in North America.
For the first half of 2024, EBITDA totaled USD 9.0 million, a 54.8% decrease from USD 19.9 million in 6M-2023.
The company recorded a loss of USD 8.2 million by June 2024, impacted by lower operational results and one-time expenses related to the sale of the Chihuahua plant in Mexico.
