Ecuador Sees 5.4% Drop in Particleboard Exports in 6M-2024

ECUADOR – Ecuador’s exports of particleboard / MDP recorded a decrease in the first half of 2024 (6M-2024).

The total value of particleboard exports in 6M-2024 fell to USD 99.4 million, representing a 5.4% decrease compared to the same period in 2023 (6M-2023: USD 105.1 million).

Among the main destinations, Colombia and Peru experienced the most significant reductions, with exports to Colombia falling by 7.2% to USD 53.6 million and shipments to Peru decreasing by 13.9% to USD 32.4 million.

In contrast, Mexico and the United States reported improvements in their imports from Ecuador, with an increase of 36.8% in Mexico and 23.9% in the United States.

Notable increases were observed in exports to the Dominican Republic, which grew by 61.3%, and to other countries, which saw a significant increase of 73.2%.

Novopan Del Ecuador, the main exporter, saw a 5.4% drop in exports, totaling USD 97.9 million , while Aglomerados Cotopaxi reported a modest increase of 0.7%, reaching USD 1.47 million.
