USA – Sauder Woodworking Co., North America’s top producer of ready-to-assemble (RTA) furniture and one of the leading residential furniture manufacturers in the U.S., continues to demonstrate its commitment to environmental responsibility.
In 2023, Sauder’s co-generation plant reduced water usage by over 7.5 million gallons (26%), in line with a decrease in power generation. The company’s production processes are highly efficient, using minimal water outside of sanitation.
The 2023 Sustainability Report highlights Sauder’s dedication to energy management, water conservation, and waste reduction. By employing low carbon footprint materials and freight-efficient packaging, Sauder showcases exemplary environmental stewardship.
“Founded in 1934 on principles of Stewardship and Better Ways,” said CEO Kevin Sauder, “we still honor these values by creating environmentally responsible products and conserving resources for future generations.”
Sauder has marked 30 consecutive years without sending wood waste to landfills, thanks to its co-generation plant that recycles wood scraps into electricity. In 2023, the company recycled over 97% of its solid waste, and more than 70% of non-wood waste.
Over the past decade, Sauder reduced its carbon footprint by 29%, with a 17.1% reduction in 2023 alone, exceeding its SBTi target. This was achieved through initiatives like adjusting shift schedules and optimizing dust collection systems.
Sauder’s commitment to environmental stewardship is evident in its ongoing efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle materials while maintaining efficient production practices.
