CANADA – Miralis, one of the largest manufacturers of kitchen cabinets in the country, has inaugurated two new production facilities, aiming to boost sales by exploring new markets and diversifying its product range.

The company opened a new cabinet plant, named U2, next to its main plant in Saint-Anaclet-de-Lessard and a countertop manufacturing plant in Quebec City, with a combined investment of USD 45 million.

By 2027, Miralis plans to produce nearly 250 cabinet boxes daily, equivalent to 15 kitchens. The new automated plant will potentially double current output, using automated systems and robots for all processes except final assembly. This expansion will create around 25 new jobs. CEO Daniel Drapeau believes automation will help tackle labor shortages and sustain manufacturing in Quebec. He also noted that the new cabinet designs are tailored for automation.

Drapeau expects to see a significant reduction in team size while maintaining output, with a shift toward more automated production. Miralis, currently selling through about 120 dealers in Quebec, Ontario, and the U.S. East Coast, is also targeting growth in new U.S. and Western Canadian markets. The company, ranked No. 172 in the 2024 FDMC 300, has annual sales exceeding USD 40 million.

The Quebec City plant, with fewer than a dozen employees, will produce high-end sintered stone countertops, offering a complete kitchen solution. General Manager Caroline Ruest highlighted that both expansion projects were completed on time and within budget, marking a successful realization of their vision.
