ITALY – During the last edition of the Xylexpo Show in Milan, May 13-17.

Barberan, the Spanish woodworking machinery manufacturer, presented for the first time a brand new quick tool changing system, which allows to switch over to produce a different profile in minutes without having to re-adjust the wrapping tools according to the new shape. This system was developed for the wrapping machine series RP, PL or PUR and achieves to have the wrapping tools always prepared for the next profile. Although 3 profile presets are ready on the machine, tool bars can be easily replaced for other tool bars in stock, which were previously set for each shape and duly identified for a proper assembling.

Two versions are available; the manual version, where the operator by turning the tool bars by hand performs the change, or the automatic version, where the turning and shifting of the tool bars is performed motorized and computer controlled. The automatic version includes a database where production recipes for each type of profile are saved and recalled when necessary. These recipes contain all necessary parameters for setting both, tooling and machine parameters. In addition to this, an app for mobile devices is available, in order to allow users to check at any time the present production data and parameters sent by the operator’s terminal of the machine. This tool changing system is a huge advantage for smaller production series, where changing the tooling as fast as possible is an important feature to consider.
