SWEDEN (Notifix) – On September 1, 2013 Peter Agnefjäll becomes President and CEO of the IKEA Group. He will carry on the company’s ambitious growth strategy, aiming to double the operations in size by 2020 to make IKEA accessible for more people.

Even though IKEA is present in over 40 countries all over the world, there is huge potential for further growth. “IKEA is in a fantastic situation – we are still small in most markets and have the financial strength to think long term. One of the main reasons why I joined IKEA is that it is a truly values-based company that wants to have a positive impact on people and communities. This is why sustainability is an integrated part in everything we do. Sustainability should not be a luxury but affordable to the many people,” says Peter Agnefjäll.
Peter Agnefjäll has deep and broad experience from IKEA. He started his career 1995 on the shop floor and has also been Assistant to the founder Ingvar Kamprad. Until last year Peter Agnefjäll was Retail Manager for the IKEA Group in Sweden. During the last year he worked alongside previous CEO Mikael Ohlsson preparing for the role as CEO.
“I warmly welcome Peter as the new CEO of the IKEA Group. His ability to listen and analyze coupled with strong decision-making capabilities will secure good leadership in the coming years as IKEA continues to grow based on our strong focus on cost effectiveness,” says Göran Grosskopf, Chairman of Ingka Holding BV – the parent company of the IKEA Group.
