MEXICO – SGS has launched a state-of-the-art furniture testing lab in Guadalajara, Mexico, expanding its capacity for consumer product testing in the region.
Spanning 1,200 m², the facility offers comprehensive testing services for domestic, commercial, upholstered, and outdoor furniture. It covers safety and stability assessments, as well as physical and mechanical tests for aging, textiles, and finishes, ensuring compliance with stringent international standards.
Julián Molina, Connectivity & Products Director at SGS Mexico, emphasized the lab’s role in supporting the local furniture industry by enhancing competitiveness and facilitating access to global markets. The facility is strategically located to meet the rising demand for nearshoring solutions.
It complements SGS’s existing capabilities near Mexico City, focusing on chemical testing, aging evaluations, flammability checks, and sharp edge assessments. The lab is on track to secure accreditation from BIFMA and recognition from ASTM, underscoring its commitment to excellence in furniture testing and safety standards.
