SPAIN – According to Estacom, Spanish furniture exports decreased by 2.7% in the first quarter of 2024, reaching more than EUR 736 million.
France remains the main destination, accounting for 28.3% of total Spanish furniture exports, down 7.8% on the same period last year. Spanish furniture exports to France had a significant influence on total export figures during 1Q-2024.
Except for the Netherlands and Belgium, all major destinations for Spanish furniture showed a decline during this period. Among the top 10 destinations worldwide, along with European countries, the presence of the United States stands out, ranking fourth. Mexico and the Dominican Republic were the main Latin American destinations, with EUR 11.6 million and EUR 6.0 million, respectively.
In 1Q-2024, Spain imported €991.68 million worth of furniture, an increase of 0.6% over the same period in 2023. As a result, the domestic sectoral balance shows a deficit of EUR 255.35 million. China continues to be Spain’s main external furniture supplier, accounting for 26.2% of total imports. Behind China, other countries such as Portugal, Morocco, Italy and Poland occupy later positions in the ranking of Spanish furniture imports.
