BRAZIL – In the first quarter of 2024 (1Q-2024), the value of Brazil’s exports of particleboard (PB/MDP) totaled USD 30.67 million, marking a notable increase of 35.3% compared to the same period in the previous year, when exports amounted to USD 22.67 million.
During 1Q-2024, the value of Brazilian PB/MDP exports to China reached USD 8.65 million, representing a substantial surge of 123.4%. This surge propelled China to become the primary export destination for Brazilian particleboard during the period, surpassing Colombia.
Colombia was the second export market for Brazilian PB/MDP in 1Q-2024, with shipments totaling USD 7.44 million, reflecting a solid increase of 30.1% compared to 1Q-2023’s USD 5.72 million.
Meanwhile, Peru retained its status as the third most important foreign market for Brazilian particleboard in 1Q-2024, with exports reaching a value of USD 5.12 million. This figure represents an improvement of 25.3% compared to the same period in the previous year, when exports reached at USD 4.08 million.
Among Brazilian states, Rio Grande Do Sul emerged as the top exporter of PB/MDP in 1Q-2024, with exports valued at USD 12.03 million, surpassing Santa Catarina’s exports of USD 11.31 million. Sao Paulo followed with USD 4.70 million.
