Brazil (Notifix with CGI Moveis).- Brazilian furniture manufacturers are substituting the use of wood panels and tropical woods with imports from the USA. Thus species such

as walnut, ash, oak, maple, are being used even more often, specially when the final product is destined for the international market. One of the reasons for such imports is that USA manufacturers usually hold the Forest Stewadrship Council (FSC) and the Sustainable Forestry Iniciative (SFI) seals, two of the most commonly known certification systems worldwide.Another factor for these imports is that North American supply of wood and laminates is constant throughout the year. In Brazil the rainy season causes deliveries to the industry to be interrupted or diminished hindering a company’s planning
