SPAIN – In 2023, Spanish furniture exports experienced a 3% growth, surpassing the figure of USD 3.041 billion euros, according to data provided by Estacom for the period from January to December.

1073ESPAÑAIn terms of export destinations, France maintains its leading position, accounting for 27.4% of the total with a slight decrease of 0.7% in its purchases of Spanish furniture between January and December 2023.

Following France, among European countries, Portugal (+4.1%), Italy (+2.4%), the Netherlands (+5.4%), and Belgium (+9.8%) stand out for the highest growth in their purchases of Spanish furniture.

It’s worth noting that despite Brexit, the United Kingdom continues to experience an upward growth trajectory, with a significant increase of 10.2% in 2023. Notably, not all Spanish furniture imported by the UK ultimately ends up there, as much of it is prescribed for projects in other regions such as the Middle East.

Morocco, ranked 7th, is also an important market, not only due to its size and geographical proximity but also because of the number of projects being undertaken that require furnishing, contributing to the positive results recorded.

Although the United States maintains its position as the third-largest destination for Spanish furniture, it experienced a 4.6% decrease in 2023. However, it remains crucial to continue supporting this market to recover sales volume, given the significant business opportunities it presents.

The autonomous communities showing the highest growth in 2023 were Galicia (+10.5%), the Region of Murcia (+10.4%), the Basque Country (+9.0%), and Madrid (+5.6%). Catalonia and the Valencian Community maintained their positions as the top two furniture-exporting regions.
