PERU – Peruvian imports of wood particleboard (PB/MDP) reached a total value of USD 110.90 million during the period from January to September 2023 (9M-2023), reflecting a 13.1% decrease compared to the same period in 2022 (9M-2022: USD 127.63 million).
In 9M-2023, Novopan Peru once again led the way in PB/MDP imports to the Peruvian market, with total imports amounting to USD 54.77 million. This marked a 5.3% increase compared to the same period in the previous year (9M-2022: USD 52.02 million). Notably, it was the only one among the top five PB/MDP importing companies to Peru that experienced growth in international purchases exceeding 5%.
Following Novopan Peru, Representaciones Martín imported PB/MDP with a value of USD 25.15 million, which represented a 3.4% decrease compared to the same period the previous year (9M-2022: USD 26.04 million). They were followed by Arauco Peru with USD 12.78 million (+0.2%), Maderas América with USD 8.04 million (-16.0%), and Masisa Peru with USD 2.71 million (-69.4%).
Once again, Ecuador led as the primary supplier of PB/MDP to the Peruvian market in 9M-2023, with shipments totaling USD 55.67 million. This marked a 4.9% increase compared to the same period in 2022 (9M-2022: USD 53.08 million).
Spain remained the second-largest supplier country in 9M-2023, with a total of USD 24.60 million, despite experiencing an 8.2% decrease compared to the USD 26.80 million exported to Peru in 9M-2022.
Chile surpassed Brazil and became the third-largest supplier country in 9M-2023, with USD 16.00 million, despite a 22.4% decrease compared to 9M-2022 (USD 20.62 million).
Brazil followed with USD 12.65 million (9M-2022: USD 22.10 million). Brazil experienced the most significant decrease among the primary supplier countries of PB/MDP to the Peruvian market in the first nine months of the year, with a 42.7% decline.
