PERU – The chain of home improvement stores, Maestro Peru, obtained in 2013 an increase in sales of 18.5 % against the previous period, closing at S/. 1,448.9 million.
This increase is the result of the commercial strategies pursued, the consolidation of its stores and the opening in 2013 of 4 new stores in Lima (Puente Piedra, Ventanilla, San Juan de Miraflores and Barrios Altos) and 3 in the provinces (Huacho, Chincha, Pucallpa). The retailer was also benefited from a strong domestic demand, particularly in the construction sector, which continues to grow, although at a slower pace.
Net income for the fourth quarter of 2013 amounted to S/. 45.6 million, compared to a profit of S/. 45.5 million recorded in the same period of 2012, representing an increase of 0.14%. The stagnation in net income is due to the effect of the exchange rate that generated losses of S/. 53.1 million.
