CHILE – Chilean particleboard (PB/MDP) exports saw a 3.2% decrease in the first half of 2023 (6M-2023), reaching USD 54.64 million, compared to USD 56.46 million in the same period of 2022.
Arauco and Masisa were responsible for the total Chilean PB/MDP exports in 6M-2023, with shipments abroad valued at USD 41.08 million and USD 13.56 million, respectively.
Among the performance of Chilean PB/MDP exports in 6M-2023, the significant growth in shipments to Guatemala (USD 3.89 million), Ecuador (USD 3.66 million), and Costa Rica (USD 3.34 million) stands out, with increases of 48.8%, 47.1%, and 7.0%, respectively.
Mexico (USD 19.25 million) and Peru (USD 12.47 million) were the two main foreign markets for Chilean PB/MDP during the period, with significant decreases of 14.5% and 11.4%, respectively.
Shipments to Colombia, the third export market in importance for Chilean PB/MDP were up by 3.4% reaching USD 8.05 million in 6M-2023.
