Peruvian Particleboard Imports Drop 15% in 5M-2023

PERU – Peruvian imports of particleboard (PB / MDP) reached USD 69.04 million in the period January-May 2023 (5M-2023). This represents a 7.0 percent drop compared to the same period of 2022 (5M-2022: USD 81.24 million). 

1039PERÚ The main importers of PB/MDP to the Peruvian market in 5M-2023 were Novopan Peru with USD 32.15 million, an increase of 9.1 percent over the same period of 2022 (5M-2022: USD 29.46 million). It is the only one among the main PB/MDP importing companies that managed to increase its foreign purchases.

It was followed by Representaciones Martin with USD 16.47 million, a drop of 5.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year (5M-2022: USD 17.43 million). Arauco Perú with USD 7.83 million (-11.6%), Maderas América with USD 5.24 million (-25.3%) and Masisa Perú with USD 2.07 million (-57.1%).

Ecuador was again the main supplier country of PB / MDP to the Peruvian market in 5M-2023 with shipments valued at USD 32.77 million, representing an increase of 9.7 percent when compared to the same period in 2022 (5M-2022: USD 29.88 million).

Spain maintained its position as second supplier country in 5M-2023 with USD 15.49 million, a drop of 13.8 percent compared to the USD 17.96 million shipped to Peru in 5M-2022.

Chile overtook Brazil and was the third largest supplier country in the period with USD 10.93 million, a decrease of 13.5 percent (5M-2022: USD 12.65 million).

Brazil was the fourth largest supplier country with USD 8.47 million (5M-2022: USD 16.06 million). It was the largest decrease among the main PB/MDP supplier countries to the Peruvian market in the first five months of the year (-59.6 percent).
