Peruvian Furniture Imports Downl 40.1% in 4M-2023

PERU – In the first four months of 2023 (4M-2023) the value of Peruvian imports of wooden furniture was USD 14.14 million, which represented a significant decrease of 40.1 percent compared to the same period of 2022 (4M-2022: USD 23.59 million).

1038PERU Brazil, as usual was the main supplier country to the Peruvian market in 4M-2023 with USD 9.37 million, representing 64.1 percent of total imports, despite a 40.1 percent drop compared to 4M-2023. It was followed by China with USD 1.87 million, despite having the largest drop (-61.6 percent) among the main supplier countries to the Peruvian market.

The main Peruvian importers of wood furniture in the period were Sodimac / Maestro, the home improvement stores of the Falabella group, with USD 3.53 million. Followed by Homecenters Peruanos with its Promart brand, which reached USD 3.07 million. Compared to the same period of 2023, these represented sharp drops of 40.4 percent and 66.0 percent, respectively.

Consolidated imports of the country’s two main home improvement chains (Promart and Sodimac/Maestro) accounted for 46.7 percent of total wood furniture imports to Peru in 4M-2023, compared to 63.4 percent in the same period of 2022.
