GERMANY – M+P Umweltdienste GmbH, based in Overath, near Cologne, has already supplied Egger with recyclable raw materials in the past. At Egger, high-quality wood-based materials are produced again from collected waste wood.

1028EGGER With the acquisition of the company, Egger is pursuing its strategic goals of further increasing the proportion of wood used from by-products and recycling and securing its raw material supply with backward integration.

Egger took over the German recycling company M+P Umweltdienste GmbH on March 31, 2023. The current owner Florian Michels will remain on the management board and in future will be responsible for the site together with the experienced Egger recycling experts Peter Lattrich (Technology/Production) and Tobias Neumann (Finance/Administration). The 23 employees of the company will be taken over by Egger. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price or further details of the transaction.

“In the spirit of backward integration, we at Egger are expanding our independent waste wood recycling operations. In this way, we can combine resource conservation and securing raw materials. We are pleased to now have the Overath site and thus the waste wood potential of the greater Cologne/Bonn area in our group. In addition, we are taking on an experienced team that will provide us with significant support in the further expansion of our recycling activities,” says Thomas Leissing, spokesman for Egger Group Management, confirming the strategic contribution of the acquisition.

Egger already has almost 30 years of experience in the use of recycled wood in production: in 1995, waste wood was used in particleboard for the first time at the Brilon (Germany) site. With the expansion of the Group-wide collection infrastructure and recycled wood processing, the wood-based materials manufacturer is once again confirming its leading role in the responsible use of wood as a valuable resource.
