CHILE – In the framework of the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), held in Egypt, Arauco, one of the largest global forestry companies, revealed that it will initiate an ambitious plan to measure the natural capital associated with its management, in order to become a nature net positive company, that is, a company that generates a total positive impact on the planet.

In a global context where the loss of nature has accelerated dramatically, the company linked to renewable resources supports its strategy to achieve this objective in three dimensions: care of water, conservation of biodiversity and reduction of CO2 in the atmosphere.

Nicolás Jobet, Climate Action Leader at Arauco, commented that “we want our existence as a company to be positive for the planet and for this we have the commitment of all those who make up our value chain: from the nursery where the trees of the future are cared for, to the development of renewable and biodegradable products such as panels, wood and cellulose. Humanity needs to build a new relationship with nature and that is why we want to quantify, increase and conserve for the future its generous provision of ecosystem services in the places where we operate”.
