ARGENTINA – Argentine imports of European machinery for secondary wood processing (boards) reached USD 1.66 million in the first four months of 2022 (4M-2022).

Which was a sharp drop of 41.5 percent compared to the same period of 2021 (USD 2.85 million).

The main supplier of European wood processing technology to the Argentine market in 4M-2022 was the German Homag Group with USD 585.4 thousand, a very slight increase of 1.0 percent compared to 4M-2022 (USD 579.4 thousand). In 4M-2021 the Homag Group’s share of total imports was 35.1 percent, compared to 20.3 percent in 4M-2022.

The Italian SCM Group, the main historical supplier to the Argentine market, was the second supplier in 4M-2022 with USD 408.1 thousand, which represented a very sharp drop of 54.9 percent compared to 4M-2021.

The also Italian Biesse Group was the third largest European supplier of wood processing machinery to the Argentine market with USD 353 thousand in 4M-2022. This represented a sharp decline of 37.5 percent compared to 4M-2021.

The main importers of European wood processing machinery in 4M-2022 to the Argentine market were furniture manufacturer Dielfe and machinery distributors Catavorello and Sthil.
