Brazilian furniture exports fall 5.3% in 5M-2022

BRAZIL – The value of Brazilian wood furniture exports reached USD 274.97 million in the first five months of 2022 (5M-2022). This represented a 5.3 percent drop compared to the same period of 2021 (5M-2021: USD 290.27 million).

993BRASIL The United States was again the main export market for Brazilian wood furniture in 5M-2022, with USD 127.51 million versus USD 125.77 million in 5M-2021 (+1.4%).

The value of exports to Chile, the second largest market, reached USD 26.07 million in 5M-2022 a sharp decrease of 26.1 percent compared to the same period last year (5M-2021: USD 35.27 million).

The UK was the third largest external market for Brazilian wood furniture with USD 24.83 million in 5M-2022, compared to USD 27.06 million in the same period last year.

Peru and Uruguay followed as the main export markets for Brazilian wood furniture in 5M-2022, with USD 14.72 million and USD 11.75 million respectively. Exports to Peru had the largest drop, 32.1 percent, among the main markets, compared to the same period in 2021, while exports to Uruguay fell 10.7 percent.

Santa Catarina and Rio Grande Do Sul were, as usual, the two main Brazilian wood furniture exporting states in 5M-2022, with 127.51 million (5M-2021: USD 125.77 million) and USD 77.79 million (5M-2021: USD 89.84 million).

Parana and Sao Paulo followed as the main Brazilian wood furniture exporting states in 5M-2022 with USD 38.81 million and USD 22.63 million.
