ECUADOR – Ecuadorian exports of particleboard (PB/MDP) reached USD 56.7 million in the first quarter of 2022 (1Q-2022), a growth of 33.7 percent compared to 1Q-2021 (USD 42.4 million) and 84.5 percent compared to 1Q-2019 (USD 30.7 million).
The value of Ecuadorian PB/MDP exports in 1Q- 2022 constitute a new quarterly record.
The outstanding export performance in 1Q-2022 was led by Ecuador’s Novopan whose exports reached USD 56.1 million and accounted for 98.8 percent of total exports in the quarter.
The main foreign market for Ecuadorian agglomerate was again Colombia. In 1Q-2022, Ecuadorian chipboard was imported for USD 33.7 million, representing an improvement of 53.1 percent compared to 1Q-2021 (USD 22.0 million).
Peru remains the second most important foreign market for Ecuadorian particleboard in 1Q-2022. With imports of USD 17.7 million and an increase of 10.0 percent compared to 1Q-2022 (USD 16.1 million). Peru together with Colombia accounted for 90.9 percent of Ecuador’s exports of particleboard in 1Q-2022.
