POLAND – The machine and plant manufacturer IMA Schelling is expanding its production site in Poland.

979IMASCHELLING The increasing global demand for automation solutions for production machines makes it necessary to expand the location near the university city of Poznań (Posen). So far, the smallest machines of the Novimat series as well as smaller transports have been manufactured here. Accordingly, production is expanded to include additional transport and handling components.

At the same time as the expansion, IMA Schelling’s global production network will also be restructured. “In the future, all of our production sites should concentrate on certain core competencies and thus guarantee efficient value creation,” explains COO Christoph Geiger.

The Polish location in Środa previously comprised a production hall of around 8,000 square meters. In the course of the expansion, the existing area grows by almost 7,000 m² and thus almost doubles. A new office complex is also planned, which will offer space for social rooms, design offices and workplaces for service technicians. The new buildings are scheduled to go into operation as early as autumn 2022. The number of employees from the current 179 will be increased by around 40.

The investment volume of the IMA Schelling Group in Poland amounts to around 6 million euros and thus makes up a not inconsiderable part of the total investments of the group of 17 million euros. “The expansion is also to be understood as a clear commitment to our production site in Poland,” emphasizes Christoph Geiger.

In addition to Środa in Poland, the IMA Schelling Group also produces in Lübbecke/Germany, Schwarzach/Austria and Kechnec/Slovakia.
