ARGENTINA – Argentinian imports of european woodworking machinery for secondary wood processing (panels) reached USD 6.16 million in 2021 that represented an increase of 143.6 per cent compared to 2020 (USD 2.53 million).
Imports also were up 10.5 per cent compared to 2019 the last year prior to the coronavirus pandemic.
The main supplier to the Argentinian market was once again the italian SCM group with USD 2,59 million, an increase of more than 75 per cent compared to 2020 (USD 1.47 million) and an increase of 69.9 per cent compared to 2019 (USD 1.52 million). In 2021 SCM group´s share of total imports was 42 per cent compared to 27.3 per cent in 2019.
The italian Biesse Group was the second supplier to the Argentina with USD 1.27 million which represented a robust recovery compared to a very weak 2020 but still lagged prepandemic levels.
The German Homag group was the third european supplier of woodworking machinery in importance to Argentina improving their 2020 shipments of USD 246 thousand by 280.2 per cent reaching USD 938 thousand in 2021. They also improved compared to 2019 by 138.7 per cent (2019: USD 393 thousand).
Roberto Catavorello remained the country’s leading importer of European machinery for secondary wood processing with USD 1 million in 2021 and an increase of 69.9 percent compared to the previous year (2020: USD 591 thousand).
