IDB grants USD 35 million loan to Masisa

CHILE – IDB Invest is providing USD 35 million worth of financing to Chile’s Masisa, a company that produces and sells solutions for furniture and interior architecture, with industrial operations in Chile y Mexico and export markets across Latin America, North America and Asia .

970MASISAThe funds will be used to finance the company’s capital investment plan for the launch of new molding lines and the purchase of equipment and technology to increase its productivity. In addition, IDB Invest will provide advisory services on corporate sustainability, in order to identify and size up circular economy opportunities.

This transaction will support Masisa in its goal of reducing particulate matter and CO2 emissions. Additionally, Masisa expects to make investments in energy efficiency and circular economy that will also contribute to reducing its CO2 emissions.

On the other hand, Masisa will continue to develop its digital sales channels, which will help improve the services it offers its customers. It also expects to provide training to vendors and furniture makers and install a production center for custom furniture, offering individualized products according to customer needs.

This transaction is expected to contribute to four United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), Industry, innovation and infrastructure (SDG 9), Responsible production and consumption (SDG 12) and Partnerships to achieve the goals (SDG 17).
