COLOMBIA – In 2021, Colombian wooden furniture exports reached USD 58.83 million, representing a sharp 58.5 percent improvement compared to last year, when wooden furniture exports reached USD 37.11 million.
RTA Muebles, the country’s main exporter and manufacturer of wooden furniture, again led this significant improvement with exports of USD 24.46 million, a notorious 57 percent above what they exported the previous year (2020: USD 15.58 million) and a 41.6 percent share of Colombian wood furniture exports in 2021.
Industria de Muebles del Valle (INVAL) achieved an important growth in exports in 2021 (+42.1 percent), reaching USD 7.45 million compared to USD 5.24 million in 2020, representing a 12.7 percent share of total Colombian wood furniture exports in the year.
Maderkit, stood out with the highest growth among the main exporting companies, going from USD 1.38 million 2020 to USD 3.89 million in 2021, an improvement of 180.4 percent.
In 2021, the United States was the main destination for Colombian wood furniture exports. The segment’s shipments to the U.S. totaled USD 18.06 million, an increase of 20.6 percent compared to 2020 (USD 14.97 million).
Chile was the second largest export market for Colombian wood furniture in 2021 with USD 10.58 million, a strong increase of 69.3 percent compared to USD 6.25 million in 2020.
Special mention should be made of the growth of Colombian wood furniture exports to Central America in 2021. Exports to Guatemala (USD 3.17 million), Costa Rica (USD 2.88 million) and Panama (USD 8.26 million) grew 246.3%, 178.5% and 123.3% respectively.
