COLOMBIA – In the first nine months of the year Colombian imports of European woodworking machinery and technology reached USD 6.7 million and were up 118.1 per cent compared to the same period in 2020 (USD 3.09 million) and 47.8 percent compared to 9M-2019 (USD 4.5 million).
In 9M-2021 a total of 200 woodworking machines of European origin entered the Colombian market compared to 142 in the same period of last year and to 191 in 9M-2019.
Italy was again the main supplying country of woodworking machinery to the Colombian market in 9M-2021 with shipments of USD 3.09 million (120 machines) , compared to USD 1.12 million (73 machines) in 9M-2020 a strong increase of 174.9 percent.
Germany was the second supplying country in value with USD 1.69 million (11 machines). The Czech Republic (USD 0.7 million) and Austria (USD 0.5 million) followed.
The German Homag Group was once again the main supplier of woodworking equipment in 9M-2021 to the Colombian market with shipments worth USD 2.71 million (37 machines) compared to USD 1.51 million (39 machines) in 9M-2020 and USD 1.57 million (39 machines) in 9M-2019.
Italian Putsch Meniconi was the second machinery supplier in value to the Colombian market with USD 1.2 million (72 machines).
SCM Group and Biesse Group followed with USD 0.94 million (32 machines) and USD 0.92 million (13 machines) respectively.
In 9M-2021 the average value of a woodworking machine imported by the Colombian was up by 54.8 percent reaching USD 33,700, compared to USD 21,764 in 9m-2020, and USD 23,873 in 9M-2019.
The european suppliers with the highest average value per machine imported by the Colombian market was Homag Group (USD 73,496) followed by Biesse Group (USD 71,481) and Holzher (USD 34,347).
