ECUADOR – According to the annual ranking of the Top 1000 Ecuadorian companies by sales published by Ekos magazine, the seven companies in the wood and furniture segment that made it into the ranking saw their sales fall by 10.7 percent in 2020, reaching USD 345.4 million compared to USD 386.6 million in 2019.
Only one of the seven companies in the wood and furniture segment that qualified for the Top 1000 – Endesa – managed to increase its sales in 2020. While the sales of the others – Novopan, Edimca (Empresas Durini), Aglomerados Cotopaxi, Colineal, Botrosa and Muebles el Bosque decreased in 2020.
Plywood manufacturer Endesa’s 2020 sales growth was 4.8 percent.
Sales declines for the rest were as follows: Novopan 3.1 percent, Edimca 25.9 percent, Agglomerados Cotopaxi 14 percent, Colineal 23.3 percent, Botrosa 0.5 percent and Muebles el Bosque 24.8 percent.
Novopan was once again the leader among companies in the wood and furniture segment in 2020, with sales of USD 138.1 million (2019: USD 142.5 million). Followed by Endesa, Edimca andAglomerados Cotopaxi with sales of USD 46.4 million, USD 42.8 million and USD 41.9 million respectively.
