ECUADOR – Ecuadorian imports of decorative papers for wood panel surfaces reached USD 18.32 million in the first six months of 2021 (6M-2021), up a notorious 117.3 percent over the same period in 2020 (6M-2020: USD 8.43 million).

Likewise with respect to 6M-2019, the last pre-Covid-19 semester, Ecuadorian imports of decorative papers for laminating wood-based panels presented a significant growth of 58.2 percent (6M-2019: USD 11.58 million).

Novopan del Ecuador, one of the largest manufacturers and exporters of particleboard in Latin America, was the leading importer of decorative papers in 6M-2021 with USD 15.86 million, up 121.7 percent compared to 6M-2020 (USD 7.15 million) and up 64.7 percent compared to 6M-2019 (USD 9.63 million). .

Imports of decorative papers from Aglomerados Cotopaxi, the other Ecuadorian wood panel manufacturer, reached USD 2.09 million in 6M-2021 compared to USD 0.95 million in 6M-2020 (+120.0 percent).

Impress Decor and Schattdecor Srl were the main supplier companies in 6M-2021 with USD 7.11 million and USD 5.19 million representing increases of 125 percent and 86.4 percent respectively.

Austria and Italy were the main supplier countries of decorative papers to Ecuador in 6M-2021, followed by Spain and Brazil.
