MEM Industrial – Tecno Mueble Internacional Starts August 18

MEXICO – During a virtual conference, Teresa Calderón, President of the Jalisco Furniture Manufacturers Association (AFAMJAL); Azul Ogazón, Director of MEM Industrial – Tecno Mueble Internacional (MEM-TMI); Jorge Gutiérrez, Operations Manager of Expo Guadalajara; and Oscar Velazquez, Director of ImpactMX and Co-Founder of Makers for Good, announced the details of the 2021 edition of MEM-TMI, the leading trade fair for the wood and furniture processing industry in Mexico and Latin America, which will be held August 18-21 at Expo Guadalajara, Jalisco.

945MEMINDUSTRIAL Speaking at the event, Teresa Calderón emphasized that “MEM-TMI will seek to exceed expectations, as we aspire for the Mexican furniture sector to stand out for its innovation and creative work, for being disruptive by joining the digital world and Industry 4.0. With this, we hope to generate development for all exhibiting companies, as well as contribute to the economy of Jalisco and all of Mexico.”

During her speech, Azul Ogazón unveiled the conference program, which will be hybrid and will revolve around three major themes: sustainability, digitalization and the role of design in the industry. She noted that “for the 2021 edition we expect to have the participation of more than 200 brands and more than 5,000 professional buyers in 11,000 m2 of exhibition space, which is already full, where six exhibition areas will be presented: Forestry Technology; Machinery and Industry 4.0; German Pavilion; Supply; Raw Materials and the areas designated for the Conference Program and the Make-a-ton.”

For his part, Jorge Gutiérrez mentioned that “since the beginning of the pandemic we have been prepared to adopt biosecurity protocols, training, certificates in different standards and procedures, and the adoption of technologies such as automated sanitary filters and real-time capacity control technologies, so we will be able to hold MEM-TMI in a safe manner”.

Finally, Óscar Velázquez said that “during the event, the second edition of Makers for good Make-a-thon Reinventing the furniture industry will be held, which seeks to boost creators through mentoring, advice, digital manufacturing processes and materials for prototyping. We received more than 200 projects, of which today we have 12 finalists that will exhibit their products during MEM-TMI”.
