Arauco’s Vesto melamine used in furnishings of hospital in Chile

CHILE (Notifix).- Seventy full modules featuring antimicrobial copper were recently inaugurated in the Public Assistance Emergency Hospital, in Santiago, Chile.

These modules included Arauco’s new Vesto Melamine, which is a joint innovation developed by Arauco, Codelco and CopperAndino, and was used for in overbed tables.In all, more than three tons of copper were needed to complete this project, with an investment of 300 million pesos to equip the surfaces and paneling in the critical patients unit, burnt patients unit and surgical unit. At the global level, this is the largest antimicrobial copper intervention performed in public health. During the inauguration, Health Minister Jaime Mañalich said, “This development is a huge step forward to control the fundamental risk of patients being treated in our hospitals, which is contracting an intrahospital disease. With this project we’re giving our patients a clear sign of protection, whose effectiveness has been proven to be effective by scientific studies”.
