ECUADOR – With exports for USD 26.96 million in the first two months of 2021 (2M-2021) Ecuador bettered Brazil (2M-2021: USD 15.7 million) and Chile (2M-2021: USD 12.9 million) and continues to consolidate as the main particleboard/ MDP exporting country of Latin America.

In the period, Colombia and Peru stood out as customary as the first and second foreign markets for Ecuadorian particleboard / MDP.

Colombia, with a slight growth of 1.7 percent, remained the main foreign market for Ecuadorian particleboard / MDP exports in the first two months of 2021 with USD 13.47 (2M-2020: USD13.25 million). Peru followed with USD 10.62 million, which represented a strong growth of 47.1 percent (2M-2020: USD 7.22 million).

Chile stood out in the first two months of 2021 as the fastest growing foreign market for Ecuadorian particleboard / MDP exports, going from only USD 13.9 thousand in 2M-2020 to USD 761.2 thousand in 2M-2021.

Ecuadorian agglomerate / MDP exports were again led by Novopan del Ecuador. Which went from USD 22.02 million in 2M-2020 to USD 26.91 million in 2M-2021, an increase of 22.2 percent. This consolidates Novopan as the largest particleboard / MDP exporting company in Latin America.
