COLOMBIA – In the July – September 2020 period (3Q-2020), Colombia exported wooden furniture for USD 11.16 million, which translates into a strong improvement of 42 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, when exports of wooden furniture reached USD 7.85 million.
RTA Muebles, the main exporter of wooden furniture, led this rebound with exports of USD 5.37 million, 217.8 percent higher than in 3Q-2019 (USD 1.69 million) and a 37.5 percent share of Colombian exports of wooden furniture.
Industria de Muebles del Valle (Inval) also had an important growth of its exports in 3Q-2020 (62.3%) reaching USD 1.93 million compared to USD 1.19 million in 3Q-2019, representing a share of 17.3 percent of total Colombian wooden furniture exports of in 3Q-2020.
In the third quarter of 2020, the United States was the main destination for Colombian wooden furniture exports. The segment’s shipments to the US totaled USD 5.25 million, a notable improvement of 131.8 percent compared to 3Q-2019.
Chile was the second most important market for Colombian wooden furniture and the one that grew the most (193.1 percent), going from USD 680.3 thousand in 3Q-2019 to USD 1.99 million in 3Q-2020. Mexico was the third most important foreign market in the period with USD 559 thousand and a growth of 15.1 percent compared to the same period of 2019 (USD 486 thousand).
