BRAZIL (Notifix) – In the January-August period Brazilian furniture trade deficit reached USD 90.7 million compared to a deficit of USD 8.7 million in same period 2012.

While furniture imports were up 14.8% reaching USD 547.4 million (2012: 476.9 million), exports were down 2.5% totaling USD 456.7 million (2012: 468.2 million). The main furniture supplying country in the period was China with a 31% share (USD 166.2 million) of total Brazilian furniture imports. Followed by the United States (20%), Germany (8%) and Italy (4%), among others. The two fastest growing supplying countries in the period were Japan with 35.1% (USD 18.3 million) and Spain with 32.3% (USD 14.1 million). Among the main supplying countries only Argentina had negative growth (-9.5%).
